I Am A Champion

Wednesday, July 08, 2009

Continuing on yesterday’s theme of the mind being everything when it comes to training, my question today to all of you is this: Do you see yourself as a champion?

Now don't get me wrong, this has nothing to do with whether you've ever won any kind of competition or have a room full of trophies. It IS all about having a champion’s attitude and mindset, which is all about doing what it takes to succeed and giving 110% every training session.

Do you attack each and every workout with vigor, intent, enthusiasm, passion and a burning desire to perform better than ever before? And if not, why? What's the point of just going through the motions?

Mediocrity is nothing to get excited about, and if you're looking in the mirror and still not happy with the way you look and feel, then perhaps it's time to take your game to the next level, to start acting and thinking like a champion.

Try this for your next workout; 5 minutes prior to starting, clear your mind of anything that is not related to your workout. Remember why you're here in the first place... to be rough, tough, buff and look great naked!!

Next, visualize your workout in advance, seeing yourself attacking each and every exercise with power and laser beam focus...being fully aware and in the moment every second of the workout.

Now do the workout at full throttle, barely in control, full throttle, heart pounding, eyes open wide, sweat pouring...a workout that you'll be telling your grandkids about.

When it's over, give thanks to God for giving you such a wonderful, functional body, and honor that gift by promising to treat your body as it is meant to be treated; with respect, reverence, love and lots of great, kick-butt workouts ; )

Now turn the volume up on your computer all the way, enlarge the screen and enjoy this motivational video of a football coach laying the hammer down...whoooooooooooo!

Live With Passion,

Roy

PS How about some comments on this, guys? Tell me how you get ready for our training sessions and what motivates you.

Living In The Dash

Friday, July 17, 2009

Work hard, play hard. Words to live by, even in the gym. We train CrosssFit style so that we don't just look good, but can also go big in life, be it sports or at home with the kids. And part of going big in life means remembering to live your life with a sense of passion, wonderment and enthusiasm.

Sometimes it’s all too easy to get caught up in chores and work and just let the days turn into months and years, not realizing until it’s too late that happiness can’t be put on hold...it must be lived in the moment.

So to send each of you into the weekend with the right attitude and perspective, please take a quiet moment to watch this video and reflect upon the message.

Get Back Up!

Thursday, August 27, 2009

To quote Tony Robbins, "Sometimes the biggest mistake we make is in thinking that we should have no problems." We think problems are a curse, instead of knowing that our problems are a gift. The only way we usually grow is if we get a good enough problem to stimulate us to use our resourcefulness to find a part of our self that is not being used.

Here is an extraordinary example of a man who chooses to view his “problems” as gifts, and a resource to show the world that there are no limitations to what we can do.

I hope you will be inspired...I sure as hell was.

Live With Passion,

Roy

Warm-Up: Max Pullups, Max Pushups, 8x 50 Yard Dashes, 1st 4 half speed, 2nd 4 full out

Paleo Recipe
Colorado Spinach Salad
1 small bunch fresh spinach
12 dandelion leaves
½ cup pink sorrel leaves, loosely packed
1 apple, cored and cut into bite sized pieces
½ cup walnut halves

You may substitute appropriate fresh greens for the dandelion and sorrel leaves. Wash and de-stem spinach. Coarsely chop dandelion leaves, and tear spinach, then toss dandelion, sorrel and spinach together in a stainless steel bowl. Put aside in refrigerator to drain and cool. When drained, pour off excess water and add apple and pecans. Toss with dressing (see next section) and serve.

 Quote Of The Day
"Strong people are harder to kill than weak people, and more useful in general."
