Middle of a tough workout, you're exhausted and ready to quit a heavy set of bench press, and all of a sudden a crazy rich guy working out next to you says "you do five more reps right now and I'll give you a thousand bucks!"
Okay, how about fifty thousand bucks for 7 more reps...could you do it?
A MILLION DOLLARS FOR 10 MORE REPS?!!
Okay...new game. You just hit total failure on bodyweight squats and are about to rack the bar before your legs fall off and your lungs implode when all of a sudden some demented freak grabs your Mom and says "10 more reps right now or she dies!"!
WTF??!!
What's my point, you ask?
Potential...what is your true potential and how much of it are you actually tapping into when you train? If you really want to see your body change FAST then you've got to put out the effort, but first you need to find out what you're truly capable of, and in my experience, most people have no clue whatsoever. If anything, most people sell themselves short all the time, going out of their way to justify mediocrity.
Try this:
Play one of those little scenarios out in your mind next time you're tired, have nothing left and are ready to terminate a set of bench or squats or whatever. In that moment, emotionally buy in and believe it with all your heart and then go for it, knowing that if you accomplish that goal that it will change your life forever or potentially have saved someone you love.
I learned to do that back in the day and the lessons I learned were life-changing; to strive, believe, to push past self imposed limitations...priceless. Try it...you may just find a warrior lurking inside you ready to explode ; )
