Hey, It Happens...

Thursday, August 25, 2011

I'm sure that there are just some topics that we shouldn't discuss or even bring up...but according to my friends and family, I apparently don't know what those topics are (or maybe I just don't care...hmmmm)

But I digress...

The point is, when I see a fellow human being in need, I always try to help out when I can. you know...offer a solution where one is needed. It's true...I'm a giver. So it is in that great spirit of giving back that I proudly promote the following product: I won't mention any names, but McGreggor (6am class, fair skinned, nice fellow, delicate ankles) this ones for you, buddy!

Daddy Date Day

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

When my daughter Sonnie was 3 years old I thought maybe it would be a great idea for her and I to spend some quality time 1-on-1 together on a regular basis, so I came up with the idea of a "Daddy Date Day" every Wednesday night, whereas I would take her out to eat and then afterwards maybe the park or a movie or Great Explorations, etc.

It was a smashing success...high five for dad!  Flash forward a few years, to when my twin boys, Ace and Maverick have reached that same age and of course they wanted to go on the date  too, which I thought was a great idea, and not wanting my wife to be left out, the tradition has now turned into a whole-family weekly event.

We always start the night at EVOS, a healthy fast food place (organic burgers, healthy salads, organic tea, air-baked fires...mmmm!) and then follow it up with a trip across the street to a small mom and pop ice cream place for a double dip (I get 1 scoop of choolate mint on the bottom with a half scoop of toasted coconut in the middle and a half scoop of choclate chocolate chip on top...old school cake cone, of course) followed by a trip to the park or else we head home and play "chase' and hide-n-seek.

I know I'm creating a family tradition that my kids will look back on with fond memories when they're all grown up, and honestly, I get just as much fun out of it as they do (maybe more...I love playing games!) and look forward to it every week. If you're a Mom or Dad and don't have a special day set aside each week to come together as a family, I highly recommend it.

I know that the weekends are usually reserved for more play time with the kids, but I've found that the middle of the week thing forces me to cut out of work early 1 day each week, (which in this day and age of crazy long hours at work is much needed), and what better excuse to come home early than your family : )

If I could Be a Super Hero...

Thursday, September 22, 2011

by Steve Lazarowitz

I don’t think I could be Superman
I’m sort of scared of heights
I’d sort of like to be Spiderman
But I’m afraid of spider bites

I suppose I could be Wolverine
But I’m afraid people would stare
I’d consider being the Incredible Hulk
But radition’s bad for your hair

The fantastic four, now there’s a thought
But I’m not sure that’s for me
Ben’s too ugly, Johnny too hot
And Sue I just can’t see

Maybe though I could be Reed
And lead the other three
Well maybe Reed’s a bit of a stretch
I can barely take care of me

Captain America, him perhaps
I love his mighty shield
But I fear I’m not brave enough
When things get rough, I yield

If I could be a superhero
I wonder which I’d be
Or maybe it’s time I tried to find
The hero inside of me

My boys, Ace and Maverick, just got accepted into Super Hero school...
the mandatory cool pose (seen above) is what you learn in week one...
