Interesting dialogue from our friends at Nike....I sure hope Phil Knight didn't write that message....I feel like Uncle Roy is setting us up...kinda like when you are in the middle of a workout and you hear words over your shoulder like "that's not the way to do that exercise!"...but my take on today's message is that it's a great thing to be independent and challenge conventional wisdom but you shouldn't just be different....before I finish that thought, a book I am reading comes to mind.....

I am currently reading a new book by Jon Krakauer entitled "Where Men Win Glory"..it's a true story about the life of Pat Tillman, former NFL great who gave up a $3.6mm salary as a pro athlete to become an Army Ranger after 9/11 to defend his Country....was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 and died as a result of friendly fire in 2004....I am still in the early chapters of the book but one thing already stands out about Pat...while he was an unimpressive physical specimen in middle/high school growing up in Almaden, Calif from the 80's forward, he always had big ideas of what he would accomplish ....he had an insatiable desire not to lose....he would defend anyone's honor no matter the circumstances....it cost him his life, unfortunately, but he lived every day looking for ways to improve, ways to have a bigger impact on people's lives.....

So, my final comment on the Nike dialogue combined with what I think the Nike Swoosh stands for is ...distinguish yourself by being unique and unconventional but have a plan of what you want to accomplish....If you're gonna "Just Do It", have your eyes on a prize!!!

Ludlow

Thanks for the input, bro.

My take on the little Nike sign was to do what needs to be done regardless of what anyone else thinks or says. To stay focused and commited to achieving your goals, to make the time for what's truly important; you and your health.

The take-away may be different for everybody, but if it made you think. or even better yet, take action, than my time spent putting these blogs together for all of you has been truly well spent.

Hey, I've been watching your site. Love your recipes!

I love the Nike logos and advertising campaign. I agree with you. This statement encourages me to stay true to my goals by staying focused and committed. Be different and don't be swayed. Peer pressure happens even into adulthood! It takes a lot of effort to stay strong but after a while you "just do it!"

Thanks!

I lived that quote this morning, and man, does it feel good. Gave a presentation on a 7:30 conference call, returned a couple of calls / emails, then found a gym here in Buffalo, NY and did Cindy with a couple of local Crossfitters. Was out of touch from 9:00 until 10:30... and when I came back... the stock market was still there! Amazing!

PS - Working out at a different facility was cool, but I really miss my 7AM BC crew! See you all Friday!
